Literacy in Early Childhood

Research shows that 90% of the brain develops during the first three years of life. In order to ensure
that children are ready for kindergarter, Nu Mu Lambda collaborates with Head Start and child care
centers to bring awareness to the importance of early learning experiences and male involvement.
Alpha Start begins with Brothers and other volunteers who read to young children throughout DeKalb
and Rockdale Counties. Future endeavors will include book drives and adopting a child care.
